Vanity and Skirt

Okay so this is the BIG day, the unveiling for all of our Imagine the Possibilities Challenge.

I had BIG plans, I always tend to bite off more than I can chew. But hey, nothing ventured nothing gained right? I confess I didn't complete all that I had planned to do here but I did complete one of the projects and in my mind it was the hardest so I started on it first. Here is the before.........

This cute but sad looking little table was a $20 find at the flea market, I thought I could improve on her so home with me she went!

And here is the after...........

This was my inspiration picture.......

And while mine is a far cry from the inspiration photo I think it doesn't look too shabby. Here's some more pics.
After gathering the ruffled part of the fabric and sewing it to the skirt I added some velcro around the top inside. The other hook part of the velcro was stapled to the vanity. To finish off the top I added additional fabric held in place by velcro. You can see the steps here

Completing the vanity has given me the encouragement I needed to keep on going and finish all the plans I have for this room. Still on the list is , curtains, a slipcover for that chair with the heart pillow, paint amoire and birdcage.  Down the line I'll be adding wood flooring and between all of that (as if that wasn't enough) I'll finish up on the painting and beadboard. I say lets have 'Imagine the Possibilities Challenge II!

Go here to view everyone's challenge project!

  6. Very cute! Nice job! Now to stray off topic - did you use the same Valspar Stillnes Blue in both your family room and guest bathroom? It is a very pretty color, I'm looking to change my beige walls soon. Also, where did you get the big red checked fabric/curtains in your dining room from? Love those! Red is my favorite color :) Thanks!

To IsleofViewMom, yes it's the same color in both rooms and I purchased the curtains from Country Curtains, they are the Red Buffalo Check.
