So if any of you guessed that I was working on a Roman Shade, bingo!
Here's the finished product.......
I had previously put a gathered ruffle on the bottom but it just wasn't the look I was going for, so out comes the seam ripper, ugh!
I like the pleated box ruffle much better. I have one more shade to finish sewing the pleated ruffle and I'll be done with the window portion of my master bedroom make over.
The shades are fully lined with blackout fabric, I am one who can't handle any light while I'm sleeping so the black out fabric is wonderful. I also made the top valance removable and I added fabric covered buttons at the top of the pleat.
You can see the box pleats much better in this photo
I'm pretty happy with the shades especially since all I had up before was sheets haha.
Finally my bedroom is starting to look more like my vision, bout time after three years, wouldn't you say?
I can't tell you how thrilled I am about how much I saved by making my own Roman Shades. The amount they want to make custom shades is ridiculous! I also made some shades for my kitchen a few months ago you can see them at this post.

Teresa

Teresa, I love it! The pleated ruffle is fabulous. We are putting a spare bedroom in our basement and would love to make something similar. Did you have a pattern? Would love to know where I could purchase one. Or are you one of those amazing people that just whip it out without one? My mom was like that, but I'm not as good as she was.

Thanks Jann, I didn't use a pattern, just measurements and figuring how I wanted it to look :)
ReplyDeleteI knew it! And....it turned out great. I may have to go with Roman shades when I redo my bedroom. I could use my ugly blackout curtains that I am using now to line them with. I can't wait to see the entire room!

ReplyDeleteTeresa- I love it-wonderful job and I love the pleats on the bottom. What fabric is that? I love it! The color is gorgeous- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, It's called Ballad Bouquet in Robins Egg, made by Waverly Fabrics.
ReplyDeleteYay me, I knew it was a Roman Shade, lol. You made it look easy, but believe me not everyone can make a roman shade turn out right. You've got to get the rings spaced just right or Crooked Nelly, lol. LOvely waverly fabric, too!

BEAUTIFUL!!! Pretend I'm shouting. I love everything about the Roman shade. The fabric is perfect and the box ruffle and covered button on the top is just overwhelming. You are at the top of my list of crative people that I don't really know. I found fabric this weekend to cover a vanity seat that will be an adventure for me. I did make two pendant lights for our new place and spray painted a light fixture so I'm trying. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous. The fabric is so pretty. Great job.
