The weather in southeast Texas is wonderful right now. I know it won't stay that way long so Toby and I are getting out side as much as we can. We live in a very peaceful and quiet neighborhood and we are taking full advantage of the nice days.
My daughters bought us this comfy set to relax on and relax we do! Those shutter are the antique ones I had in the living room in Alabama. The porch needed some interest so I placed them by this front window. I think they make a nice backdrop. I probably need to attach them to the house.

I got this cute water fountain from Decor Steals a couple of weeks ago. The sound of the water lulls us to sleep and I love the way it looks.
I put this sweet little plant holder out by the front steps and filled it with annuals. So far the deer haven't found it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Boxwood, asparagus plant and geraniums fill this little area under our bay window.
I've recently become interested in succulents and have found some cute ways to display them.
Some little birds happily 'planted' in a wrought iron planter.
This bird is happily living among some herbs.
This is the side of our wrap around porch, we get real lazy on that chaise.
I planted some gardenias in this bed, they are Toby's favorite. I also planted some pretty azaleas as well. Deer don't like gardenias or azaleas so I think they are safe.
We don't go away from home much these days. Toby has good and bad days and we never know when the hard days are coming. When we do get out it's to IHOP for breakfast or to the local lake to take in the scenery or try our luck at fishing. We are doing okay, taking one day at a time, squeezing every drop of goodness from each day.
The porch has been our sanctuary and we have had many serene days out there spending time with each other and our dog, talking and remembering.
Hope all is well with all of you and may God Bless you.

Looks so peaceful mom. I wanna come visit soon and chill on that chaise lounge! I love those shutters in the front. You always make things so peaceful I'm sure Toby is appreciating that peace you bring with flowers and comfort. Love and miss you guys!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimmy, you got me started with a beautiful rose. Can't wait for you to visit. Love you and miss you too!
DeleteYour porch is beautiful Teresa! A perfect place to relax. I really like the seating and shutters. The flowers are so pretty. The little bird is precious hiding among them. My daughter has succulents in her bedroom window, she's finally figured out how to keep them happy. I have no luck with them. Good to hear you guys are okay. I've thought of you often. Enjoy the nice weather!

Thank you Sherry! I hope I have luck with the succulents, I've never grown them before. Thanks for the good thoughts.

DeleteVery lovely place for relaxing/recovery. Thank you for sharing. Just curious...who bought the family farmhouse and did you know them before?
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, a very lovely family bought our farmhouse. It was so hard to sell it but we felt good about who bought it. They love old houses just like us and have built a barn and added lots of farm animals.
DeleteI've noticed you've been active on Pinterest and took that as a good sign that Toby is better and you've had more down time. At least that's our prayer.
ReplyDeleteLove & prayers, Deidre Nichols
Yes, I've tried to back off a little bit because Toby says I'm like a Mother Hen. Thank you for your prayers as we do need them so very much.

DeleteWhat a nice porch! a great place to relax for sure.
ReplyDeleteWe get lots of winds here in our part of East Texas... (just south of Dallas)... so fastening those shutters to the house, might be a good idea.
Wishing there were no more bad days for Toby, only good ones.
I was happy to see you pop into my feed. Know that even when I don't see you ...I still think about you and pray for y'all.
