No this isn't my table runner :( but I've been wanting to make one just like this one I found on Pinterest.
So I made a quick trip to Joann's for some burlap and went to work.
Originally I was going to hem the long sides and put some pretty lace on the ends just like the one in the Pinterest photo.
But after hemming the sides and adding the lace lets just say it beared no resemblance to the lovely table runner above. Bah!
So on to plan B....
I cut off the hemmed sides and the lace and just decided to do a simple fringe instead. I sewed a straight stitch around all four sides to make a stopping point for the fringe and pulled the
long threads to form a fringe. So here's the final product.....
It was a lot simpler to do it this way and I think I like the fringe better than lace, just a different look. I purposely kept my runner on the smaller side so I wouldn't have to remove it when I put place mats down. So all in all it was cheap and easy so that's winner in my book.
I've also been on a pillow kick lately, here's my latest one. It was super easy to make, you can find the instructions at Moda Bakeshop.
In the instructions they tell you to get a jelly roll of fabrics but that's to make 10 pillows! If you only plan on making one pillow you'll need 7 different fabrics cuting only 1 1/2 inch by 12 1/2 inches. It's fun choosing the fabrics, there can be so many color variations with this pillow, I think that's the charm of it, that and the ric rack, buttons and tie closure on the back, hehe.
Here's a closeup showing the hand stitching and buttons. Sorry for the blury pic.
And here's a little peek at another project I've been working on, full reveal to come later.
Have a great week and happy crafting!
