A Little Beauty in my Yard

I walked out the other morning to this beautiful site.

One of my Stargazer Lillies had bloomed! I've been watching each day waiting for it to bloom and it didn't disappoint me one bit. I planted several bulbs and this is the first one that bloomed. It seems like a miracle to me that you can place an ugly bulb in the dirt and from it emerges this glorious site, amazing! 

All the gentle rain we've been having is making everything grow so beautifully. Here are a few more pics of my plants.

I planted impatiens and sweet potato vine in this water feature turned planter.

I love Coleus, no flowers on them but the foliage is gorgeous.

The Hosta and the Coleus grow in harmony next to one another, they both thrive in shade and have the same watering requirements.

 This Coleus features lots of light green which is a real accent in the garden.

This purple and green Coleus almost didn't make it, the chickens thought it was planted just for their eating pleasure.

The Sweet Potato Vine and Impatiens along with a Spider plant love their little home in this wheel barrow.

The  Purple Crape Myrtle Tree is full of blooms.

 My fern is loving all the light rain, sending her fronds out in all directions. It loves living along with the Hostas and Coleus too.

 Mr Tree (see his face?) is watching over all the plants in his care.

But the star of the show is still my Stargazer Lilly

.Even though this world can be a place of hurt, sadness and disappointment God's love and hope is evident, all we have to do is look.

These  flowers remind me that God has shown His love for us by by filling the earth with beauty. The most beautiful of all is His Love as shown by sending His Son Jesus to die for us. I'm am overwhelmed by the wonderfulness of it all. On this the Lord's Day may I never forget His unending love that cost so dearly.

Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.

6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness

When Your Soul is Troubled

These words from David Martin Lloyd Jones (in his book Spiritual Depression) are so very wise. Being a medical doctor as well as a pastor, he has words we would do well to read. 

"The main trouble in this whole matter of spiritual depression in a sense is this, that we allow our self to talk to us 

instead of talking to our self. Am I just trying to be deliberately paradoxical? Far from it. This is the very essence 
of wisdom in this matter. Have you realized that most of your unhappiness in life is due to the fact that you are 
listening to yourself instead of talking to yourself? Take those thoughts that come to you the moment you wake up 
in the morning. You have not originated them, but they start talking to you, they bring back the problem of 
yesterday, etc. Somebody is talking. Who is talking to you? Your self is talking to you. Now this man’s treatment 
was this; instead of allowing this self to talk to him, he starts talking to himself, ‘Why art thou cast down, O my 
soul?’ he asks. His soul had been repressing him, crushing him. So he stands up and says: ‘Self, listen for a 
moment, I will speak to you’. Do you know what I mean? If you do not, you have but little experience.

 The main art in the matter of spiritual living is to know how to handle yourself. You have to take yourself in hand, you have to address yourself, preach to yourself, question yourself. You must say to your soul: ‘Why art thou cast down’-what business have you to be disquieted? You must turn on yourself, upbraid yourself, condemn yourself, exhort yourself, and say to yourself: ‘Hope thou in God’-instead of muttering in this depressed, unhappy way. And then you must go on to remind yourself of God, Who God is, and what God is and what God has done, and what God has pledged Himself to do. Then having done that, end on this great note: defy yourself, and defy other people, and defy the devil and the whole world, and say with this man: ‘I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance, who is also the health of my countenance and my God'."
