Many of you have commented on the little cabinet I have in the dining room.
It was never quite finished and that's why I haven't posted about it. But hey, this is the year of 'Git-Er- Done' right? So I got her done! I got it at a flea market last year for next to nothing and it's been waiting around for a make over since then. The sides had peeling veneer so I covered them with beadboard. Here's the before with the unpainted bead board sides.
When I first got this cabinet the glass on the door was broken and held together with duct tape. So I just decided not to replace the glass but used rabbit wire instead, can you see the little wire squares? I stapled it to the inside door. I love how it turned out!
The shelves were also missing so I cut down some that I wasn't using.
I painted the outside and inside with ASCP in Coco. I really like this color because it's pretty neutral and goes with everything. The white pitchers and plates really stand out with the Coco paint.
I decided not to paint the little wood designs so I could keep some of the original look of the wood. I sprayed the door pull with oil rubbed bronze spray paint.
I wanted to keep the accessories simple on this cabinet and love the addition of boxwood wreaths to just about anything!
I also made some progress on the dining room and took some of your suggestions to heart. Many of you said I should cover the chandy chain with a cord cover. I don't know why I never thought of doing that, I guess I was just too overwhelmed with the whole thing. So that was an easy and cheap fix, I used onasburg and cut it 4 inches wide by twine the length of the chain. I turned down and sewed a hem at the top and bottom and the long sides so I had finished edges. Then I just got on a ladder wrapped it around the chain and sewed. I didn't want to ask Mr Magazine to take the chandy down so that's why I just sewed it in place. Once sewn I just scrunched it together! It took all of 15 min and looked SO much better after. Thanks to all of YOU!
I still need to attach that darn top thingy. But it made such a big difference in how the overall chandy looked. Here's a before, you can kind of see how it was.
And a few changes to the accessories to the dresser/sideboard.....
That adorable little rabbit was a gift from my cousin Cindy. It orginaly held a topiary but I managed to kill that in short order (ugh) so now it holds a.... well, a plastic plant, there I said it!
I keep extra dishes and things in this dresser.
