Greening Up the Chandy

I love greenery on a chandelier, there's something about the crystals and lights shining through the green branches that just makes me feel festive and brings me one step closer to creating a magical Christmas.

I just cut some hanging branches from our tree in the front yard and fed them through the arms of the chandy.

But it wasn't quite right ....

I needed to add some color, the color red of course.

Now it looks like a magical dreamy Christmas Chandy and the best part was the decor was all provided by the Lord, natural, organic and beautiful.

Isaiah 60:13

13 The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

I also decided to add some red berries to my little reindeer on the mantel  from yesterday's post.

Decorating and RE-Decorating

Ok lets just say it right off the get go, I'm crazy. Yep after all the fussing and primping of the mantel yesterday I started second guessing myself, I do that alot when it comes to decorating. If you missed yesterday's post you can see it HERE
I started thinking hmmmm that garland concoction might look really good somewhere else......hmmm.

So I asked my husband his opinion  and he gave me  his usual, "whatever you like honey" which was  no help whatsoever!
So I disassembled the whole shebang and RE+ decorated the mantel.....

With a couple of lighted topiaries and my little white reindeer.
This pic was before I added some greenery that I cliped off our outside tree.

So what did I do with the garland?
It ended up on the Farmhouse Table.

I added some blue and white cups and saucers.

This coffee pot is from my mother in law, it's very old and I love it.

Signing off now as I'm exhausted from all this redecorating  decorating.

Planked Christmas Mantel

I've been wanting to plank the area above my mantel for a long long time and when do I do it????? Why right smack in the middle of the Christmas season of course. I've always worked better under pressure.

I'll give you the after first.....

Now here's the before....with no planking.

With my past planking projects I've bought  4x8 thin plywood and had Home Depot cut them lengthwise in 6 inch strips but this time I just bought the v groove planks from Lowes.

They went up pretty easily with my nail gun. Then I just framed it out and painted with Martha Stewart Glass of Milk paint.

I plan on adding some posts at on each side of the fireplace area below the mantel to bulk it up a bit. For some reason they wimped out this fireplace in the living room when they built it. I don't really understand why because the two other fireplaces in the bedrooms are way more elaborate. But no worries, I'm gonna fix her up.

Of course I couldn't wait to deck it all out with some Christmas decor, some lights, greenery, a few snowy white bulbs and some burlap bows all half off from Hobby Lobby.

My hubby gave me a 'well done' so I'm feeling good!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

The boxes came out, lots of them. Some old favorites and some that made me wonder 'why am I keeping that'? In the end I decided to 'go simple' this year. Just a few of my favorite decorations will make it for Christmas.
This is just a little bit of the decor that I decided to go with so far.
I sprayed some flocking on these branches and added snowflakes. Santa made an early appearance too.
And of course my little church and bottle brush trees.

Santa is ready for the fun.

Nutcrackers adorn the mantel

A couple of cute little reindeer

I haven't found my creche yet. Still trying to decide if I want to put my big tree up or just go with the small one. Decisions, decisions.....I think I'm feeling a little lazy this year, ya think?
Blessings, Teresa

Winter Wonderland Under Glass

I picked up this terrarium about 8yrs ago at an antique store. It was originally black and I've always had plants inside.
But this year I decided to do a copy cat of this beautiful display featured at  Between Naps on the Porch

You remember this little guy from this post well, I wanted him to have his own home.

So I spray painted the terrarium white. Added lots of snow, some Christmas trees, some Christmas toys, a church and last but not least the Snowman.

Everything in this display was purchased at one of my favorite  thrift stores and cost less than $10 total except for the snowman which I made. Not bad eh?

I'll leave this decorated until after New Years Day then maybe I'll decorate it for each holiday, kinda like playing house lol.
