My May Flowers

Today is such a beautiful day in Alabama. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the flowers blooming and the evidence of God is all around me.
I turned this fountain into a planter, it was just to hard to keep the leaves and debri out, it already had a drain hole where the pump electrical cord came through.

The top part has trailing baby tears and impatiens and sweet potato vine in the lower part.
It's positioned right next to an old Pecan tree.

My pink impatiens are filling out nicely, they greet you as you come up the steps to my front door.

I found this 'Believe' garden flag at Lowes, yes I believe in your Goodness Lord, I believe in your loving kindness towards us.

The Asparagus Fern is overflowing the little wooden wheelbarrow, I tucked a Verbenia in with it for some color.

Looking out towards the chicken coops.
Little clay pots serve as garden edging around this bed planted with Hostas, Bleeding Heart ,ferns, moss and Coleus.
An old garden plow and little ceramic mushrooms add some interest.

I like to sit here and look at the plants while visiting with the chickens. A copper bird fountain provides water for the birds and squirrels and the little angel holds bird seed.

Another old wheelbarrow holds some lirope and petunias over by the picnic table.

I love to just sit outside on days like this and just enjoy being alive, we have so many blessings in this beautiful country of ours and I try never to forget that.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree, yielding fruit after it's kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth, and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after it's kind and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself after its' kind, and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day. Genesis 1:11-13

Mr Bark Blockhead

I heard grumbling  coming from the yard this morning when I let Semper out to do his business. It was a deep grumble, kind of grouchy sounding too! So I went to investigate.......
The sound got much louder as I approached the chicken coop....
Ah Ha....it was coming from Mr Bark Blockhead!!! He did not sound the least bit happy.

So I inquired of him "What pray tell is wrong Mr Bark? Didn't you sleep well last night"? Hmpf, he scowled, "How could anyone get any sleep with Mr Slate over there crowing his dern tootin' head off all night and early morning long"?
Here's the mug shot of the offending rooster, Mr Slate to be exact.
"Why did you feel the need to crow incessantly as to curl the bark of Mr Bark Blockhead"? I asked.
He replied, "How could I not crow? I have this wonderful new coop that Farmer Toby built for me and my lovely wife Silver"? "I had to let everyone know how utterly happy I am with my new digs!"
Why even Mr Scarecrow was impressed with the new coop.
Even tho he prefers his surroundings much better.
"To each his own" he said.
If having a grumpy tree face for your favorite tree strikes your fancy  you can get your very own by looking here.....

Just be sure not to plant him too close to the chicken pen :)

It's Definitely Fall In Alabama

No humidity these days and the nights are dipping into the 50's so it's time to put out the Fall decor!

Welcome cooler weather and less bugs, it's my favorite time of year.
This plant is so striking, it's called Celosia, also known as Rooster Comb in Spain :)

 Fall on the Porch
I found this cute little wheel barrow at the flea market recently and knew exactly what I was going to do with it.

I love the color of this coleus and they're so easy to grow.
The leaves are starting to fall, the chestnuts and pecans are dropping all over the place so life is good.

 Happy Blogging!
