Tiered Trays, How I Decorate With Them

I really like tiered trays, they provide organization and add vertical space to display the things you love.

Here are a few ways that I've used tiered trays in our home.

I really love having lots of plants around, especially inside when it's cold and dreary outside.

The tiered trays give me extra room for more plants in a smaller space, win win.

I like adding little decor items like this sweet wooden sign.

The space between each level is spacious enough to give all the plants plenty of light and room to grow.

At the coffee bar space is at a minimum so having a tiered tray really helps organize all the things we need like, coffee pods, creamer, sugar etc.

This sweet angel lives on a single tier tray in our master bedroom, I really like the added height it brings.

I have risers or trays under all of my lamps, they just look better in my opinion, here's one in our living room area on an iron decorative tray.

I would love to hear if you use tiered trays in your home and how you use them. Thanks for stopping by.....Hope everyone is having a great start to the New Year!

Ways to Display Your China

I like to have my pretty china on display not hidden away.
So I'm always on the lookout for finding ways to display it, here are a few of the ways I've come up with.

This simple wood plate holder allows the plates to stand up and displays their pretty flowers. I bought this one but they would be easy to make. I'm going to feature a tutorial next week on how to make one for yourself!

I love cabinets with 'see through' doors. I redid this one using rabbit wire.

Placing dishes in a cloche makes them look special.

I like keeping my linen napkins on display in a wire basket

Plate holders allow you to stack a lot of plates together and they add to the decor.
What ways have you found to display your plates? I'd love to hear!

P.S. I'm back to sewing for the master bedroom, stay tuned for more reveals! Also I won a beautiful pillow cover in an awesome giveaway from 6 Wilson  !!! I'll be showing the pillow in my master reveal!

Pretty Cloche Vignettes

I snapped a few pics on my recent trip to my favorite Antique Flea Market. I love cloches and these are decorated so cute. I love getting ideas while I'm there but I never remember what it looks like so I take pics.

I'm in love with vintage clocks at the moment. I'll be showing you the ones I have collected next week.

Here's a couple of my cloches.....

Everything looks better under a cloche, wouldn't you say?

Little Side Board and Some More Changes

I finally painted my flea market find side board with Annie Sloan Old White.
The bottom seemed like it was calling for some sort of applique. The below pic is before I painted it.
I thought this keyhole applique looked cute.
Here's the inside before.
I lined it with some wallpaper samples that I had, just sort did a patchwork of patterns..
Before I did anything......
And after......
It's a little hard to see the difference especially the applique but trust me it's there! The glass pulls make it look so much prettier. I'm thinking of making a new runner for the top instead of the burlap, too much brown for my liking.

Added a little boxwood wreath to this lamp.
The table has a few little changes also.......
It is now sporting a burlap pumpkin and a sweet little turkey tureen I picked up for $2, can you believe that???
So things are taking shape in the dining room, there is just one more big item I'm working on in here, the hutch (you can see part of the hutch in the previous pic, medium oak brown wood which I'm so over) yep I'll be painting that with Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint, can't wait to show you! Oh and those med oak brown chairs? they're going bye bye too.

I love It When Decorating is FREE

The topiaries were almost free except for the container. I had the greenery, the twig stems were from the yard, added some moss and there you have it! The coffee filter wreath was made from what else? coffee filters from my kitchen, just added a foam wreath form.

I wanted to add some extra height to my mantel and give it just a tiny bit of a Fall feel. I also didn't want to spend any money. So again out to the yard I went. I found some great little twigs. I just cut them a little and added them to my blue mason jars.
Some more twigs added to the table around the cloches.

Totally free and it adds some texture. I like it!

Is it Farmhouse? Need your Ideas

I'm trying to achieve a more organic farmhouse feel in my home and decided to start with my shelf with the window frame. So  I sprayed some chicken wire black and stapled it to the back of the window.
A couple of sheep thrown into the mix for the mantel.
Here's a look at the whole room but the shelf doesn't have the chicken wire on it yet. Also I tweaked the accessories a little after adding the wire. The chairs will be painted with ASCP Old White and distressed. In a  few pics down you can see one of the chairs I finished.

I added two boxwood wreaths to the candle holders to add a bit more greenery. Should I add a mirror behind the wreath?

I got this scale at my favorite flea market, I think it adds to the overall look I'm going for
Another look at the chicken wire window shelf. Now I'm having second thoughts about the chicken wire lol. Should I paint the shelf a different color? I'm open to doing that.

Some greenery, a little burlap and a wire cloche for the dining table. Here's the white chair. Should I paint the chairs different colors? Yes I took these at night lol, I'm a bad picture taker for sure.

Okay, I'm getting there but I would love to have your ideas on making it more of a farmhouse chic look cause I'm still not all the way there yet. I think I need some color, but what color and where? What would you add or take away. Dear Bloggers you totally won't hurt my feelings, I'm depending on you to give me some ideas so feel free to speak your mind :) Oh and wait til you see the lighting fixture  I have for this room, I'm so excited to show you, stay tuned!

Possum Belly Wha????

I never thought I would have anything with the name possum in my kitchen. The thought of possum soup turns me green but sure enough there IS a possum in my kitchen.

Well not EXACTLY......
Here's the kind of possum I'm talking about.........WARNING UGLY FLOOR ALERT! Viewing the following floor may disturb you and cause nightmares, I know it does me. Lol, now you will look for sure, oh well just  keepin' it real
This is a Possum Belly Cabinet, it gets it's name from the way the bottom drawers are shaped. It was handed down from my Gramma and it saw many a pies make on it.
They were meant to hold flour and sugar back in the day when women baked ALOT!

These wonderful possum belly drawers now hold dish towels and coffee fixin's.
The glass front cabinet holds all of my spices and a few cuties like the yellow cow creamer and polka dot chicken measuring spoon holder. I used risers for the spices so they would all be visible at a glance.
The main working area holds some of my favorite cookbooks, an old creamer holds my utensils, a crock with sweet and low and  my old percolator coffee pot, (in my opinion no coffee maker can make coffee taste like my old percolator makes it taste, super yummy!) The pull out cutting board comes in handy for chopping and the enamel top is so durable.

The top shelf holds more cookbooks, some old and new scales.  In it's day this cabinet was considered state of the art, guaranteed to help the busy homemaker by saving steps. She had everything she needed for baking right in this one cabinet.  I love this old cabinet, it makes me feel connected to the way things used to be, I love the cozy kitchen feeling it gives me. I think maybe I was born out of time or something lol. Happy Baking! I'll be sharing this post atSunny Simple Sunday & Kim's Wow Us Wednesdays
