Laundry Room, the full reveal

Remember this?
The Laundry Room from "HE double hockey sticks"?

                                                What the heck?

This is the way our lovely laundry room looked when we got the house, my o' my  what we were thinking!

Well, not to fear, I never pass up a dirty challenge and this will be no different! Take a look at the after ladies and gentlemen. Is that a standing ovation I hear? *Takes Bow* . Just kidding, but I am very happy with how it turned out.

We painted right over that vinyl wall with Behr Paint plus Primer. If you don't plan on taking down the skinny top molding be sure and paint it the same color as your wall. Painting it all the same will make it look less chopped up and cleaner. Don't forget to paint your ceiling first with a white ceiling paint.

We installed Beadboard 3/4ths way up the wall and painted in a fresh white semigloss. We took down the wired shelf and made our own from 1x12's with a little trim added to the edge.

All of my laundry items, detergent, bounce, bleach and spot remover are kept in the drawers of the pedestal beneath the washer and dryer so I would have room to display my pretties. It works out great and things seem to stay so much cleaner.  I also keep my extra dish cloths and items for the dog under there.

We found some very inexpensive peel and stick tiles at a surplus warehouse, I think they add great interest and contrast. My washer and dryer doesn't match, that's because the matching dryer was gas and my mobile home is all electric. Oh well, it really doesn't bother me that much.

I've been envious of this drying rack at Ballard

But at $139 that wasn't going to happen so off to Goodwill I go.......and lo and behold look what was there waiting for me!

My inspector Semper giving it the once over
Can I hear an "awwwwww ain't that cute"? It's amazing what a little white paint can do.

Fully extended, the dish towels hide the electrical box, I'm going to make some cute little retro aprons to go here.
Locked at the 45 degree angle

In the upright position
Can you believe I got this for only $1? My daughter Kim spied it for me, I had passed it up! Just a few coats of white paint and it's ready for duty. Thanks dear daughter.

Now on to finish the kitchen cabinets, wish me lots of luck.
                                             And one more look.......

  4. Beautiful and refreshing! I love the shelf above the washer and dryer with all your goodies on it. I also love the fact that you can have decorative pieces in your laundry room because you have storage underneath. Awesome!

  14. Hi, I also live in a MH, sure is challenging isn't it ;-) Could you tell me if the guest bathroom redo is beadboard wallpaper, or actual beadboard? & how did you do that tall linen closet in there, new doors but did you cover the outside with beadboard wallpaper? I just love what you have done....

  15. Hi Pnutsmom, it's all real beadboard. For the tall cabinet we simpley overlayed the beadboard right onto the old cabinet. The doors were done the same way, then we added trim. We used a nail gun to do it and caulked over the nails holes. It was all very easy, I would recommend this method to anyone. Let me know if you have any more questions.
